Scramble Tournament Rules

Format

The format is a four-person team scramble. Two golf carts are provided per team.

Field

Tees will have two (2) four (4) player teams designated as Team A & Team B. Team A plays first. Team B will not tee off until Team A has cleared the fairway and is a safe distance from any tee shot. Slow play will be monitored on the golf course.

Play

1. Men are to tee off from the white tees. Women tee off from the red tees. Women are allowed to play from the white tees if they choose. Whichever tees you use on your first tee are the tees you must use for all 18 holes.

2. All four team members tee off on each hole and then decide which tee shot they like best and must mark the spot. The best second shot of the players is then selected and used. All four players can then play from the spot of the selected second shot and continue this format until the ball is in the hole.

3. For selected shots, each player can place their ball within one club length, no closer to the hole (moving laterally). If the selected ball is in the rough, each player must play from the rough.

4. The team score on each hole is the number of strokes taken to get the ball in the hole using the “best” shot.

5. Each foursome must use one tee shot of each player during the round. It does not matter what the par is for the one tee shot.

6. If a team has only three players, one player will play two shots, to take the place of the missing player. The player hitting two shots must rotate every hole.

7. Mark the selected ball on the putting gputter.reen. Each player is to attempt the putt from the same spot. The first ball to go in is counted for the team score. If no player makes the putt, mark the best remaining spot and all team members are to putt from there. No Gimme Putts. Maximum two putts per team. If the team has not holed out after two putts please pick up and go to the next tee. Record as a two-putt added to the other strokes played for that hole.

8. If the ball that the team selects is in a hazard (bunker or water), in the rough, or out of bounds, you cannot drop the ball outside the hazard or rough, even if relief is within one club length away. If the ball selected is in a sand bunker, everyone must hit from the sand bunker within one club length. You can rake the bunker after each shot. If the ball selected was in the water, drop out under USGA Rules procedures and add a penalty stroke for each player hitting from the drop. A ball hit out of bounds is usually not selected, but if it is, the players must re-hit from where the ball was hit before it went out of bounds, and the team must add a “stroke and distance penalty” (2 strokes).

Team Scores/Competition

1. Team Scores for each hole must be entered into the Live Scoring Mobile App immediately upon the completion of each hole. Team Captains, or their designee, will be responsible to download the Live Scoring Mobile App on their Smartphone. "Live" team scores will be displayed during the tournament on big screen monitors at various locations. Manual scorecards will not be accepted for team scores. See  Live Mobile Scoring App for more information.

2. Double Bogey is the maximum team score on any hole. Teams that reach a score of double bogey on a hole are to pick up and move on to the next tee.

3. The lowest 18-hole team score will determine the winning team.

4. In the event of a tie at the end of the competition, the winning team will be determined in card-match in which scores on the 18th hole will be compared. If the scores on the 18th hole are the same, then the scores on the 17th hole will be used, and so on, in reverse order, until a low score is identified.
